Persidangan Pusat Ekonomi Digital (PEDi) MADANI 2023, the PEDi MADANI Conference 2023, was a national digital empowerment event organised by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). The Prime Minister officiated the conference on 29 November 2023 at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), Putrajaya. It showcased the impact of Pusat Ekonomi Digital (PEDi), MCMC's network of community digital economy centres. Creative Creed Associates Sdn. Bhd., a creative agency for events and exhibitions, delivered the conference.
The brief
PEDi centres give communities, particularly in rural and suburban areas, access to the internet, digital skills training and e-commerce opportunities. The conference had to show what that network achieves on the ground, and to make the case for digital inclusion to government, industry and the communities themselves. Its themes were:
- digital literacy;
- entrepreneurship development and innovation;
- cybersecurity awareness;
- bridging the digital divide for rural and suburban communities.
The programme
The event brought together government agencies, industry players, entrepreneurs and local communities through:
- conference sessions;
- an exhibition;
- entrepreneur showcases;
- networking sessions;
- digital engagement activities.
The entrepreneur showcases put the people PEDi serves in front of the audience, so the programme's results could be seen through their businesses rather than only described from the stage.
