The Johor Smart City Forum 2025 was a policy forum organised by PLANMalaysia@Johor (the Johor State Department of Town and Country Planning) and held from 22 to 24 September 2025 at Persada Johor International Convention Centre (PJICC), Johor Bahru. Creative Creed Associates Sdn. Bhd. delivered full-spectrum event management for the forum, from platform design and planning through to execution.
The brief
The forum set out to explore how cities are shaped by intelligence, inclusivity and sustainability, in support of Johor's ambition to become a connected and sustainable smart state. The challenge was balance. The programme had to carry high-level policy dialogue while staying relevant to a mixed audience of:
- government agencies and policy leaders;
- urban planners and academic institutions;
- industry players, technology providers and investors;
- members of the public.
Our approach
We treated the forum as a strategic platform rather than a logistics exercise, building it around purpose, narrative and experience. That meant structuring the programme so that each session moved the conversation forward, and designing the event so that policy content felt accessible to non-specialists as well as to planners and officials.
The approach drew directly on lessons from the Klang Sustainable Convention 2024, a forum of similar scale and ambition on sustainability and the UN Sustainable Development Goals that Creative Creed delivered the year before.
What Creative Creed delivered
The forum combined keynote sessions, panel discussions, an exhibition, technology showcases and networking. Expert sessions covered:
- governance and data-driven decision-making;
- digital infrastructure and cybersecurity;
- smart mobility;
- sustainable urban development and green technology;
- citizen-focused solutions.
Creative Creed managed the event end to end at PJICC, with audio-visual, staging and technical elements delivered by our event technical team with specialist partners.
Outcome
The forum brought leaders, planners, industry and the public into one room to explore smart city initiatives for Johor, and served as a platform for partnerships and shared strategies for smarter, more sustainable cities. It continues Creative Creed's work with PLANMalaysia@Johor, which also includes Johor Smart City Day 2024.
